The day was made even better with the help of many of our families that came along for the day and it was lovely to spend time getting to know the children and their family new to our class this year.

Cornwallis Beach
Last Wednesday the Junior school went to Cornwallis Beach. The weather was fantastic and it was great to see the children having fun. They enjoyed building sandcastles, climbing trees, frisbee throwing and swimming in the lovely water.

Classroom Learning
So much learning to be done in our classroom that the weeks are just flying by!
Some of the photos are of us doing 'Word Work' which is part of our Daily 5 reading program.
Ms Boyd likes us to do our own self portraits throughout the year. This term we did Collage Art. We ripped small pieces of paper from magazines that were the same colour of as our skin and hair. Then we had to find a nose, eyes and a mouth. It has taken a little while but some are finished and hanging up in our room, we would love you to pop in and see them.

Music Time!
Western Heights now has it's very own music room! In our second week at school we got to play on the instruments, some that Mr McClay had made over the holidays. Some instruments were very LOUD, but we really enjoyed playing them.

Welcome to 2015!
We began the year with a lovely bunch of 14 children who were looking forward to doing lots of learning after a long, fun summer holiday.
This year Room 2 are lucky to have a student teacher 'Miss Swan', who was with us for the first two weeks of school and will then visit our class each Tuesday.
Hannah Swan enjoys playing tennis and watching her favourite soccer team Manchester United. She plays the guitar and speaks French - she may even teach us some words in French!
