Today we had a science day. Professor Chupa Chup and Professor Campbell came to help us learn about science.
Professor Chupa Chup asked us if we knew what Science and a Scientist meant.
Then we drew a picture of what we thought a scientist looked liked
One of the experiments we did was called 'Magic Milk'
Professor Chupa Chup said we can do it at home as long as we have an adult with us.
We put some milk into a plate and then added food colouring. Most of the class liked the pink
colour. Next we dipped a q-tip (cotton bud) into some dish washing liquid.
Finally we carefully put the q-tip into the milk and the colours all moved around the plate. It really was 'magic!'
We made 'Oobleck' or slime. Did you know that this is a Dr Seuss experiment? It gets it's name from the Dr Seuss book Bartholomew and the Oobleck
This term we have been studying transformation. So as scientists we planted a bean seed and we are going to watch it transform into a bean stalk. We even made our own castles and clouds just like Jack and the Beanstalk.
We must remember our seed needs water, sunshine and lots of talking to it!

Professor Campbell taught us about solids and liquids, followed by a melting activity.
Professor Campbell let us transform chocolate from a solid into a liquid. Some of the chocolate transformed into liquid. Can you tell your friends and whanau why only some transformed into liquid?
We then put the chocolate into the freezer and it transformed back into a solid!
And one of the best part of the day... EATING THE CHOCOLATE!
